(01) — The project
The challenge
Halden & Co has been building boats for 140 years, and most of that story lived in boxes. They wanted to open their archive to the public without turning it into a dusty timeline.
Our approach
We turned the archive into an ocean you can sail through. Scrolling moves you across the water, and each wave carries a chapter of the company's history: drawings, letters and photographs that surface, then sink back as you pass. A custom audio layer shifts with the weather of each era.
The archive team manages every story from the CMS, so new finds can be added without touching the scene.
The outcome
More than 180,000 people set sail in the first month. The project was featured on several design showcases and is now part of the brand's onboarding for every new employee.
