The challenge

Orbis asked for a pavilion that would feel different for every visitor, at a festival that welcomes forty thousand people over a single weekend.

Our approach

We grew a garden of light: a field of 600 columns driven by a generative system. Depth sensors read how people move through the space, and the columns rise, glow and settle in response, so no two walks through the pavilion look the same.

A companion website mirrors the installation in real time, letting people at home watch the garden grow.

The outcome

Average queue time to enter passed an hour on day one. The pavilion has since toured three cities, and the online garden recorded more than two million interactions.
